Doris Mae Tuttle,101, formerly of Gouverneur
Apr 16, 2018Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Gouverneur on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 12 – 2 p.m. Her funeral will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Beth Quick officiating. Burial will be in the East Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur.Doris was born on May 1, 1917 in Gouverneur to the late Eugene P. and Kathleen (Beers) Gray. She attended school in Gouverneur and married Benjamin W. Tuttle on January 20, 1930 at the Gouverneur Methodist Parsonage officiated by Rev. Harold Thomas. The couple owned and operated their dairy farm on Route 58 in the town of Macomb from 1948 until retiring in 1974 when they moved to Gouverneur. Mr. Tuttle passed away on July 6, 1999.Doris was an avid gardener and card player. She was a member of the Pine Hill Birthday Club and enjoyed her family immensely.Mrs. Tuttle is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Phillip Parker; 3 sons, Robert and Barbara Tuttle, James Tuttle and Ronald and Joan Tuttle; 22 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, a son, Benjamin Tuttle, her sisters, Valda Hance and Shirley Besaw, and a daughter-in-law, Florence Tuttle.Donations in memory of Doris may be made to the Gouverneur Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 164, Gouverneur NY 13642.
